In her new solo show “Embodied,” opening Friday November 8th, Bridgette Meinhold shares a captivating collection of contemporary encaustic and cold wax paintings that explore the intricate relationship between body, identity, and landscape in the American West.
Through layered surfaces, her work invites viewers to reflect on how the expansive terrains—ranging from misty, sage-covered hills to fog-draped mountain peaks and atmospheric forests—shape our personal and collective narratives.
By immersing yourself in this atmospheric world, you can be present in the moment and connect with the here and now.
The theme “Embodied” highlights the physical and emotional connections we have with our environment. Using encaustic and cold wax, both made with beeswax, Meinhold creates depth through various techniques, exploring the landscapes she cherishes. The tactile nature of these mediums allows for a visceral response, encouraging viewers to imagine themselves physically within the landscape.
By immersing yourself in this atmospheric world, you can be present in the moment and connect with the here and now. The reception, which opens at 6 pm, is open to the public and will feature local musicians and light bites from Savoury Kitchen.
The artist writes, “As you engage with my artwork, I hope you’ll contemplate your own ties to the land and how it influences your identity and sense of belonging. This new body of work celebrates the profound interplay between nature and self, offering a poignant reflection on the intricate ways we connect with our surroundings and fostering a deeper understanding of place and identity.”
Live Music and light refreshments will be provided. The exhibition will hang for three weeks.
