Writer Veronica Vale here. As a mother-to-be working on my own baby’s nursery, I’ve been inspired to dedicate this next segment of our “Picture This” blog series to curating your dream nursery with the latest Gallery MAR artwork.

Using elegantly Photoshopped in situ images, I’m thrilled to offer you a glimpse of the possibilities that these fresh-off-the-easel paintings can bring to your baby’s room. I hope you’ll find plenty of creative, Photoshopped art ideas to make your nursery a cozy and beautiful haven for your little one, just as I’m doing for mine.

Congratulations are in order for our writer and creative Veronica Vale, who brought her son Leo Grayson Upchurch into the world on August 7th (her own birthday!) weighing in at 7 pounds 7 oz. She says, “We are both doing really well, and we hope to bring him to Utah to meet the Gallery MAR team soon!”

PICTURE THIS:

Havoc Hendricks, “Elegant by Nature,” mixed media, 40″ x 27″

If a minimalist bedroom nursery is more your style, find the perfect match in the detailed minimalism of Havoc Hendricks’ work. His clean lines and soft, muted hues make for the perfect accent to your understatedly beautiful nursery. Plus, if you and your family have a special relationship to the mountains, what better way to pay homage to that beloved landscape than with the subtle, yet powerful imagery of Hendricks’ abstract mountainscapes?

PICTURE THIS:

Pamela Murphy, “Sunday Best,” oil, 20″ x 31″

It doesn’t get much more sweet and charming than the work of Pamela Murphy. Her textured layers and neutral palette create a beautiful backdrop for her sweetly nostalgic vintage imagery. The imagery of the precious little girl in vintage garb in this piece “Sunday Best” would suit any neutral nursery looking for a touch of traditional style that still feels fresh and new.

PICTURE THIS:

Hunt Slonem, “Owls in Trail,” oil, 51″ x 33″

Between his famous bunnies, butterflies, and birds, the subjects within Hunt Slonem’s work are destined for your beautifully refined nursery. His work blends the sophistication that you may want from your interior design with the sweet innocence of childhood dreams. Much of his work is renowned for its vibrant, punchy color, which could add the perfect accent to your nursery, but with the whites and textures of this space, Slonem’s most subtle, golden hues feel all the more appropriate. Plus there’s something about two owls nuzzled up that just feels out of a storybook that you might read to your little one.

Just as we love helping you find the perfect piece for above your bed, so too do we love finding that perfect piece for above your baby’s crib. For work above beds and cribs, we often recommend a long landscape piece, but in some instances, a grouping of smaller works can be just as dynamic. These three works by Nina Tichava make for the perfect triptych, adding a splash of exciting, bold color to your space. These botanically inspired works will bring a touch of modern nature to your nursery space, and the balance of magenta and cyan hues make it the perfect gender neutral space for your beloved little one.

PICTURE THIS:

Sandra Pratt, “Spring Barn,” oil, 24″ x 24″

Neutral nurseries have been all the rage of late, creating a calming, soothing backdrop for your baby’s first moments. With a neutral setting, you can let your art take center stage and add a splash of color, warmth, and fun to the space. We love how the highly textural, alla prima work of Sandra Pratt adds a flourish of color and charm, without competing with the peaceful tone of the space.

PICTURE THIS:

Katherine Heigl, “Like a Moth to a Flame,” mixed media, 20″ x 20″

In this charming cottage style nursery scene, the furniture and wallpaper give a nod to more traditional decor styles while the clean lines, bright atmosphere, and modern trimmings make the room still feel fresh and modern. Find the balance between these two worlds with a beautiful work of art by longtime friend, Gallery MAR collector, and now Gallery MAR exhibiting artist, Katherine Heigl. This beautiful portrait of a young woman with lunar moths flying around will be sure to give an air of dreamy romanticism to your nursery space. Plus, the built up texture of Heigl’s work adds another element of interest and depth to your space.
