In our blog series, “Our Artists’ Guide,” we embark on a journey led by our Gallery MAR artists and team members, delving into some of the most creatively vibrant cities across the nation. Throughout this series, we’ve traversed the Southwest art hub of Santa Fe, NM, the lofty charms of Denver, CO, the artistic allure of Asheville, NC, the sun-soaked magic of Santa Barbara, CA, and the coastal charms of Carmel-by-the-Sea, CA.
Now, join us as we venture virtually to the breathtaking mountain retreat of Park City, Utah — home to our Gallery MAR Park City gallery.
Park City, nestled in the heart of the Wasatch Mountains, captivates with its scenic beauty and vibrant arts scene. Historic Main Street, with its charming storefronts and lively atmosphere, invites exploration while its art galleries, boutique shops, and gourmet restaurants enrich the experience. With its stunning mountain backdrop and welcoming community, Park City is a haven for seekers of inspiration and adventure. Hear from our very own Gallery MAR local artists, Samantha Da Silva, Bridgette Meinhold, Kevin Kehoe, Sara Edgar, and Havoc Hendricks what they love about their city.
THE BEST PARK CITY EATS:
Samantha Da Silva: Hearth and Hill and Yuki Yama Sushi.
Bridgette Meinhold: Harvest or Twisted Fern
Kevin Kehoe: Silver Star Cafe, Yuki Yama Sushi, Cortona Trattoria, Blind Dog Restaurant & Raw Bar, and Freshies Lobster Co.
Sara Edgar: Harvest, Handle, Five5eeds, and Oishi. Plus Copper Moose Farm is great for farmers’ market fare during the summer.
Havoc Hendricks: Bangkok Thai on Main
THE BEST PARK CITY PARK:
Samantha Da Silva: Snowbird Resort – a cherished birthday tradition filled with yoga, spa, hiking, and cider sips against breathtaking vistas.
Bridgette Meinhold: Round Valley
Kevin Kehoe: Willow Creek Park and Run a Muck Dog Park
Sara Edgar: I love walking around Park City Gardens.
Havoc Hendricks: Rotary Park
THE BEST PLACE TO BE INSPIRED IN PARK CITY:
Samantha Da Silva: Antelope Island and Spiral Jetty
Bridgette Meinhold: Anywhere! There’s a painting around every corner.
Kevin Kehoe: Heber Valley, Guardsman Pass, Bonanza Flats, Uinta National Forest, Snake Creek Canyon, and Deer Creek Reservoir.
Sara Edgar: I love walking the trails behind my house around Pinebrook, but all of Park City has great trails everywhere!
Havoc Hendricks: At the top of any of the ski mountains (some offer tram rides in the summer!)
THE BEST PARK CITY COFFEE SHOP:
Samantha Da Silva: Five5eeds.
Bridgette Meinhold: Sitting in the greenhouse at Park City Gardens
Kevin Kehoe: Hugo Coffee Roasters, Atticus Coffee & Teahouse, and Harvest
Sara Edgar: Five5eeds
Havoc Hendricks: Five5eeds has a delicious Chai Latte
THE BEST PARK CITY ART SITE:
Samantha Da Silva: Gallery MAR and the Kimball Art Center
Bridgette Meinhold: Well, besides Gallery MAR of course, it’s the Kimball Art Center. There are always interesting new exhibits.
Kevin Kehoe: Gallery MAR, Meyer Gallery, and Kevin Kehoe – Simple Beauty Photography Gallery
Sara Edgar: Of course Gallery MAR is my favorite art venue! But the Kimball Art Center has great offerings, especially the art fair in August! I also enjoy the Nester Gallery.
Havoc Hendricks: I’m a little biased but Gallery MAR goes out of their way to curate really unique and boundary-pushing art that still feels easy to be around.
WHAT DO YOU LOVE THE MOST ABOUT LIVING AND WORKING IN PARK CITY?
Samantha Da Silva: What’s not to love about Park City? Dive into a welcoming community of bold, fearless women entrepreneurs, artists, and collectors, all united in spreading joy in an idyllic setting.
Bridgette Meinhold: I just love the access to beautiful outdoor places and all the trails
Kevin Kehoe: Waking up each and every day in the natural sanctuary that is Park City and the Heber Valley and feeling beyond blessed and grateful for the daily inspiration that inspires my heart, feeds my soul, and stimulates my mind.
Sara Edgar: I love living in the mountains in a smallish town and all that it has to offer year round! It’s so accessible to outdoor activities and is also so close to a larger city to get that “city fix”
Havoc Hendricks: My art studio is just a stone’s throw away in Provo, UT. The best part of living on the Wasatch Front is how much natural landscape variety is packed within a short area: giant, Switzerland-like mountains and hundreds of stunning lakes of all sizes. My studio happens to be 10 minutes away from towering mountains in one direction and 10 minutes away from Utah’s largest freshwater lake in the other direction… my idea of paradise!
