It all started with an afternoon phone call: “I’m thinking of opening an art gallery in Carmel; talk me out of it.”

When Thomas Cushman called me to ask my advice and opinion about a gallery in Carmel-by-the-Sea, California it was like a dream calling me back to 2010. Back then, I had toured spaces and was perusing leases, focusing in on my dream of having two galleries in two beautiful locations. While in negotiations, my current Park City space became avilable, and I had to walk away from the Carmel dream.

Fast-forward to April of 2019 and Thomas and I are chatting more and more each day about combining our expertise and love of adventure — to form Gallery MAR Carmel as partners. Officially opened June 10th, 2019 Gallery MAR Carmel is the just the beginning of this dream for Thomas and me.

Since its establishment in 2008, Gallery MAR has been a place where brilliant artistic vision meets the everyday lives of collectors around the globe. Now in Carmel, CA, we offer a fresh and lively atmosphere, as we seek to educate and inspire collectors while supporting and encouraging nationally touted artists. The diverse array of artwork is consistently changing, yet the standard of artistic talent and superior customer service remains the same. Gallery staff provide comprehensive services in art consultation, site evaluation, custom commissions, and installation.

Thomas runs the show in Carmel, while I continue to live and work in Park City. We are thrilled to join the welcoming community of Carmel (thank you!) and look forward to welcomgin you into the gallery soon.
